Delve deep into Dungeons & Flagons Friday, March 22

HAIL, BOLD ADVENTURERS BIG AND SMALL!

It is I, Scotty Baggins, bringing ye glad tidings from afar. Rejoice! For the time of full hearts, filled pints, and merrymaking draws near! So sharpen ye swords, dull ye minds, and prepare to delve into the deep, dark world of Dungeon Synth! *Mortiis screeches from somewhere unseen*

Or at least.. some ambient electronic music. And some darkwave. And some kind of new wave techno, I think? Hole Dweller hasn’t performed live yet. But anyways…ahem—REST ASSURED, BRAVE TRAVELER, dungeon synth will most definitely air on some speaker at some point of the night! (Come see me if it doesn’t.)

A Rippin’ Production and Boggs Social & Supply is pleased to offer a night filled with trance-inducing minstrels, contests of skill and chance, and dismal enveloping FOG (!) as we welcome Corporal Quigg, DJ ADSR, Picture One, and Ian Deaton to the stage. While the stage masters do their work and symphonic synths invade your ears, dungeon masters Jimmy the Horsehead and Jezebel Frost will guide adventurers along paths less traveled to DISTANT LANDS AND DARK CRYPTS! *Mortiis screeches from afar*

Games. We’re talking about games, folks. Specifically, one-shot Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, tabletop games, Magic: The Gathering duels, and similar treats as dungeon masters and table space allow—all while epic, atmospheric, and synthy tunes erupt throughout the venue.

Corporal Quigg will be playing his offering of d-beat, dead tech, lo-fi experimental dance-punk. Quigg’s music spans between video game epicness and in-your-face abrasiveness, with both hitting that serotonin switch in equal measure. Think unhinged, but in the best possible way.

DJ ADSR will be spinning dungeon synth symphonies between sets, including bodacious, brooding anthems from such stalwarts as Mortiis *screeeeeech*, Hole Dweller, Summoning, DIM, Old Sorcery, Quest Master, Fogweaver, and more. Who knows, maybe they’ll throw in some of their own original stuff as a treat. Just a little somethin’ somethin’ for your troubles.

Picture One is one of Atlanta’s best electronic projects, dishing out gothy-synthpop-new wave-post-punk goodness like a baker with one too many pies. The brainchild of Thomas Barnwell—who also runs a pretty cool record label with another Dungeons & Flagons artists *wink wink, nudge nudge*—Picture One is sure to touch the hearts of goths young and old who are ready to get down, turn around and go to town with a boot-scootin’ boogie. Accompanied by homemade lights and all the fog, there’s something to incentivize all the senses during a Picture One show. Grab the one who warms your cold heart most and do-si-do

Ian Deaton is that other Dungeons & Flagons artist who runs a pretty cool record label with Thomas Barnwell. And much like Barnwell, Deaton specializes in dealing with delectable darkwave about important Atlanta landmarks, including Buford Highway, Climax Street, Edgewood, and East Atlanta. While pulsing rhythms lull you into a trance, your mind will latch onto the ‘80s-inspired synths that wouldn’t be out of place in your favorite foggy horror film. Before you know it, more upbeat (but still dark) Carpenter-style melodies inspire you to shake that rump or run for cover.
