A FUKKING HARD rock band. Since their formation in 1978\, they have become known around the world for their influential contribution to the origins and continued legacy of the doom metal and underground hard rock genres. The distinctive vocals and guitar wizardry of founder and driving force Scott “Wino” Weinrich has left a mark on the world of heavy music that continues to inspire. \nThe Obsessed gained momentum in the Baltimore/DC area of the USA in the early to mid 1980’s during the height of the hardcore punk movement. Often cited as the band that bridged heavy metal and punk together\, the band gained the respect of punk heavy weight contemporaries Black Flag\, The Bad Brains\, and Minor Threat\, to name a few. The attitude and spirit of The Obsessed has led many to regard them as “America’s Motorhead”. \nWino went on to join the doom metal giants Saint Vitus as lead singer on seminal albums including 1986’s ‘Born Too Late’‘. In 1990\, The Obsessed came back with their eponymous debut album\, “The Obsessed”. This album was quickly followed by 1991’s “Lunar Womb” and 1994’s “The Church Within”. All three of these albums shaped and paved the way for future heavy rock bands and the doom scene as it’s known today. Wino’s gift for prose and his never-ending search for truth and meaning allows his words to hit as heavy as the riffs he plays.  \nAlthough The Obsessed went on a hiatus after The Church Within’s release on Columbia records\, Wino’s sheer passion and prolific nature led him to pursue many other critically acclaimed projects such as Spirit Caravan\, The Hidden Hand\, Shrinebuilder and various acoustic releases. Long time fan Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) specifically asked Wino to perform on Dave’s all-star Probot album\, released in 2004. In 2012 Wino rejoined Saint Vitus until the world wide cry for The Obsessed could be denied no longer and in 2016\, Wino reunited The Obsessed\, once and for all\, and has been kicking ass and taking names ever since. \nDrummer Brian “Dawg” Costantino joined the band at this time. The band signed to Relapse Records and recorded 2017’s “Sacred”\, an album showing The Obsessed back with pure vengeance. Sacred brought the band to venues and festival stages around the world.  \nIn 2022 the band became a four piece with the addition of Chris Angleberger on bass and Jason Taylor on guitar. The band has been touring heavily since and have been seen on USA and European festival stages such as HellFest\, Freak Valley Festival\, Snowblind Festival and Desert Fest.  \nThe band’s forthcoming album\, Gilded Sorrow\, set to be released early 2024 on Ripple Music\, marks a new chapter in their legacy. The album promises to capture the essence of the band’s classic sound while adding a fresh new atmosphere with a dual guitar attack.  \nThe Obsessed are here to stay.  \nIF IT AIN’T HEAVY … IT AIN’T SHIT !!!

We played with W8ING4UFOS who are our family at Boggs Social & Supply. It was an amazing night\, and we knew then that this is something we will be doing every March from now ’til the end. He is best known for having played the first Jason Voorhees as a child in the iconic final Crystal Lake scenes in the Paramount horror film Friday the 13th. Lehman currently records and tours the US and Europe with his punk metal band\, First Jason. \nA native New Yorker\, Ari Lehman grew up in Westport\, CT\, where he trained in Classical Music and Jazz Piano. Lehman was presented with an All-State Award for Excellence in Jazz Piano and a scholarship to Berklee School of Music by the famous jazz educator\, Dr. Billy Taylor \nAfter the release of Friday the 13th\, Lehman returned to New York City where he enrolled at New York University and concentrated on Big Band Orchestration and Jazz Piano\, “where he studied with the likes of Vladmir Shafranov. Lehman’s career led him to become a prominent touring keyboardist for some of the top names in Reggae and African music of the time\, with whom he toured throughout the US\, Europe and West Africa\, and recorded with at Tuff Gong Records and Interscope Records. \nFirst Jason has independently released fpur albums: Jason is Watching! (2009)\, with Chuck Lescewicz “Nefarious” from Chicago death metal band Macabre playing bass\, and Amit Shamir “Cleaver” from New York hardcore band Cro-Mags on drums and “Heed My Warning\,”(2013)\, described by Uber Rock (UK) as “a brand of thinking man’s horror-themed rock.” “To Be a Monster” (2017) and their most popular album to date “LORD OF THE LAKE” (2019) that contains the hits “KILL FOR MOTHER” and “VOORHEES IS THE NAME” which both have videos up on YouTube. Currently FIRST JASON has recorded two new songs that released recently called “THE PRICE OF PEACE” & “THE SCAPEGOAT”. The video for “THE PRICE OF PEACE” produced by Camp Rattler drops on October 13 2021 \nLehman has also composed\, performed and recorded a number of soundtracks for independent films\, including Alexia Anastasio’s critically acclaimed all-female “Salome”\, and Vamp Films “Vampire the Movie”\, “which won the 2007 Rondo Award for Best Independent Feature.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, February 11th at Boggs Social & Supply: CRYPTA – Shades Of Sorrow Over North America 2024 with support from Malefic\, and Murder Van.\n\n2/11 | 7PM | $20 | 21+\nTICKETS\n\nCRYPTA\n\nCrypta is a Brazilian Death Metal four-piece.\nAround May 2019\, Luana Dametto and Fernanda Lira founded Crypta\, initially aiming it to be just a side project where they could write death metal songs – differently from what they had\nbeen doing in their other band. In June of that same year\, Dutch guitarist Sonia Anubis (ex-Burning Witches\, Cobra Spell) was invited to join the project. With a provisional trio lineup\, the band began creating their first songs.\n\nAlmost a year later\, in April 2020\, Brazilian guitarist Tainá Bergamaschi was added to the lineup\, consolidating Crypta\, finally as a quartet.\n\nThat same month\, Fernanda and Luana left the band Nervosa\, and Crypta became their main project\, being officially presented publicly the following month.\n\nShortly after that\, Crypta signed their first record deal with Napalm Records\, as well as a booking deal with Napalm Events finished writing their first songs\, and soon began the\npre-production of their debut album.\n\nIn January 2021\, they gathered in São Paulo\, Brazil\, to record their first ‘full length’\, at Family Mob Studio; “Echoes of the Soul” was recorded in 3 weeks\, and it was engineered by Otávio\nRissato\, produced by Thiago Vakka (Fossilization\, Jupiterian)\, mixed by Arthur Rizk and mastered by Jens Bogren\, at Fascination Street Studio. The cover art was painted by Wes\nBenscoter (Amorphis\, Autopsy\, Hypocrisy\, Kreator\, etc…).\n\nThey also used their time in Brazil to record their first music video; “From The Ashes”\, which was directed by Brazilian filmmaker André Gustavo (Uncanny Filmes and 02 Filmes) and\nhad the scenography signed by Pepe Mendes.\n\nIn addition to “From The Ashes” – on April 7th – two other singles were released before the album was officially out; “Starvation” was released as a lyric video on May 11th\, and the latest being an official music video and playthrough\, for the song “Dark Night of the Soul”.\n\nTheir debut album\, “Echoes of the Soul”\, was released worldwide on June 11\, 2021\, viaNapalm Records. It was also licensed and released on the same date\, in Brazil and Argentina by Dynamo Records\, in Russia by Soyuz Music and in Japan by Ward Records.\n\nAs the band prepared for their first tour\, Sonia Anubis decided to leave the band to focus on her other projects\, in March 2022. For the concerts already scheduled\, the band provisionally summoned Brazilian guitarist Jessica di Falchi.\n\nBetween May and June of this year\, Crypta held a Latin American tour that featured 33 dates in 11 countries and 17 Brazilian states\, some of them alongside the bands NervoChaos\, Krisiun and Belphegor.\nBetween the months of July and August – during the European summer – they played 20 dates in 10 countries\, even featuring in some of the main festivals on the continent\, such as\nWacken Open Air (Germany)\, Extreme Obscene (Czech Republic)\, among others.\nBack in Brazil\, they play some of the biggest festivals in Latin America\, such as Rock in Rio\, Primavera Sounds (Primavera na Cidade)\, Rock al Parque\, among others\, in addition to\nother important dates such as 2 sold-out shows on the SESC circuit\, a presentation alongside Arch Enemy\, Behemoth and Nervosa in São Paulo and 7 more dates in Mexico\nalongside the bands Krisiun and NervoChaos.\n\nUntil 2023\, the band plans to extend the “Echoes Of The Soul” tour to several places that have not yet been visited\, besides already starting to confirm some important events in this\nperiod\, such as participation in the first edition of the Summer Breeze Festival\, which will be\nheld in Sao Paulo.\n\nIn October 2022\, guitarist Jessica di Falchi was finally made an official member of Crypta thanks to her chemistry during tours\, and with this lineup\, the band focuses on finishing writing their second album\, to be released in 2023.\n\nCrypta is: Fernanda Lira (bass and vocals)\, Tainá Bergamaschi (guitar)\, Jessica di Falchi (guitar)\, and Luana Dameto (drums).\n\nFor more info:\nwww.cryptafficial.com
